What does ‘Sovereign’ mean?
The creation of the Sovereign Football Association was inspired in part by the work of the Sovereign Project, a growing international organisation based in the UK, whose website can be found at www.thesovereignproject.live
Our ‘sovereignty’-our authority and ability to run our own lives and make decisions for ourselves-comes entirely from within. Being ‘sovereign’ is a mindset thing, a state of growing self-confidence and belief in our personal choices backed up by our actions. ‘Sovereignty’ cannot be granted by any external source.
The Sovereign Project exists to empower people by giving them the information and the knowledge they need in order to build their confidence and to become sovereign themselves. This is based on years of research into history, politics, law, economics, language, psychology and much else besides.
The Sovereign Football Association is for referees and referee mentors in football who wish to serve the Game and develop their knowledge and skills whilst operating independently of the FA. We want to share our knowledge and experience for the benefit of our members and all those with whom we work. We want to help and encourage our newest colleagues by offering them a mentoring service they perhaps haven’t had from other sources.

What can the sovereignty mindset bring to referees?
A referee who believes in his or her own sovereignty is going to be more confident in his or her decisions. He or she will be curious, enthusiastic and keen to learn more. He or she will therefore enjoy officiating a lot more and stay in the Game longer. A wonderful win-win situation for all involved.
